Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art | London, EN
Following the success of last year’s event, Alessandro Galleni returns with a new talk exploring the origins and lasting significance of opera.
A beautiful mistake, or creative misunderstanding, of the Florentine Renaissance gave birth to opera and ballet, as well as to neoclassical architecture, most notably opera houses, conceived as modern-day temples for the emerging secular cult of music. This talk will guide the audience through the birth, development, and future of opera, exploring its works and composers alongside its architects and artists, its evolving social dynamics, technological innovations, and its continued relevance in the modern world.
Doors open at 18.00 and the event starts at 18.30.
