A live, participatory performance exploring the body, clothing and queer self-construction through stillness, care and collective imagination.
About the Event
THE DOLL is an immersive performance-installation set inside a closet-like sculptural space built from Nevis Romero’s own garments, prosthetic forms and guest designers’ clothing racks.
At its centre, Nevis Romero stands as a living still life — calm, present and receptive.
Visitors are invited to observe, enter the closet, and gently dress and undress the performer, transforming fashion into a shared ritual of attention, vulnerability and trust.
The work reframes clothing not as surface decoration but as emotional language — a way identity is shaped, offered, removed and reimagined through touch, gesture and collective care.
Throughout the evening, guests are also invited to sit, draw and watch, turning observation into another form of participation.
The event includes Mei-ditation, a creative healing ritual by designer Mei-Hui Liu, featuring hand-crafted garments designed to encourage slowness, softness and embodied presence.
Evening Structure
The performance unfolds across three parts:
1 — Live Performance
Nevis moves slowly like a doll, wearing prosthetics, while live opera vocals fill the space.
Guest artists dress Nevis in real time, activating clothing as gesture and transformation.
2 — Audience Dressing Ritual
Visitors are invited to step forward and dress or undress Nevis, becoming co-authors of the living sculpture.
3 — Shared Dressing & Drawing
Guests are invited to try on selected garments themselves and draw from observation, turning the space into a collective studio of fashion, reflection and play.
