Join us as Historic Smithfield opens for the season! Celebrate the arrival of spring with a day full of living history, hands-on activities, and family-friendly fun on the grounds of this beautiful 18th-century site.
Step back in time and experience:
• A special living history conversation between Thomas Jefferson and William Preston (time TBD)
• Blacksmith demonstrations at the forge
• Colonial garden activities — learn about historic plants and take one home
• Hands-on crafts including church dolls, candle dipping, and weaving
• Make a piggy bank with the Friends of St. Luke, Odd Fellows, & Household of Ruth
• Guided tours of the historic house
Bring the whole family and spend the day exploring Southwest Virginia’s Revolutionary-era history right here in Blacksburg.
