Celebrating Precious Okoyomon and Artists Against the Bomb
About this Event

Join us to celebrate the opening of , the artist’s largest outdoor garden to date with a giant teddy bear sculpture visitors can enter and explore. In conjunction with the opening, participate in a terrarium workshop and celebrate with the Lower East Side Girls Club DJs and a new field guide designed by Teen Art Salon artists.

The day also marks the opening weekend of Artists Against the Bomb in Homeroom, where the international artistic campaign advocating for universal nuclear disarmament presents a new exhibition. Join artists including Pedro Reyes for Atomicon—a panel of conversations on denuclearization, atomic culture, and disarmament—as well as a drop-in poster making workshop.

During this full day of free activities, participate in artmaking workshops, meet the artists, and explore the exhibitions on view. This full day of free activities welcomes audiences of all ages to learn, create, and celebrate.

Peace Signs: Communication Design Workshop (all ages)

Drop in to a communication design workshop inspired by Artists Against the Bomb. The ubiquitous peace sign (☮) was originally created in 1958 by English artist Gerald Holtom to be used for anti-nuclear weapons demonstrations, then adopted as the official logo for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. This workshop invites participants to reflect on historical and contemporary peace signs by designing their own to hang as a poster or wear as a button.

1–3 p.m.

Atomicon (ages 18+)

Hosted by Artists Against the BombRooted in an urgent belief that meaningful change arises through collective action and public refusal, Artists Against the Bomb will host Atomicon—an afternoon of presentations by artists, activists, and scientists advocating for universal nuclear disarmament, with a keynote address by Pedro Reyes.
