Phil Connors, a seasoned big-city weatherman, is frustrated to be to reporting the annual Groundhog Day Ceremony in small town Punxsutawney, PA. His cynicism is in direct opposition to the cheery townsfolk, who are ready for their favorite Groundhog to not see his shadow and welcome an early spring. After disdainfully covering the rodent's negative forecast, he awakens the next day only to discover it's February 2 once more. Will Phil accept that he is doomed to repeat the same day over and over again? Or will he find the courage to change himself and his fate?
This musical will have 20 roles for actors aged 18-60+. Be prepared to sing 60 seconds (or one verse and chorus) of a contemporary pop/rock Broadway song in front of the creative team; piano accompaniment or a bluetooth speaker will be available for backing tracks. A dance call will be conducted once everybody has sung. Bring tap shoes if you have them; tap experience is a plus. All roles will dance or otherwise move; comfortability moving and dancing is a plus, dress prepared for movement. We are actively seeking talent of all races, ethnicities, and gender identities.
Warnings: Some adult language, death, gunshots, smoke effects, flashing lights, Suicidal Ideation
