BCMS at the Leo: Impressions
Our September program, “Impressions”, is stacked with many colors and moods starting with Lukáš Sommer’s innocent and effervescent Maėjovaė Suite
for clarinet and guitar. Equally engaging is Anthony Sidney’s
Sonata for Harp and Guitar, which will take you on a sonorous journey within a rhythmically engaging framework. Next up we’ll explore Rebecca Clarke’s Two Movements for String Quartet, full of lush harmonies in a style of reminiscent of Ravel, this piece floats in a dream world of unbound imagination.
After intermission, you’ll revisit this dream-like state with Pierre Vellones’s Impressions d’Espagne, arranged for flute, bassoon and harp, followed by Ethel Smyth’s grand String Quartet in C minor, a masterpiece of its time and a tribute to Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony.
Join us for a post-concert reception and enjoy our signature cocktail, the Bulstrode Special, named in honor of Rebecca Clarke.
