Ohio Life Science BioPathways 2 Day Workshop

Overview/About this event:  

Every student is directly affected by Ohio’s life science industry, whether it’s through their own personal health, the health of a loved one, or the ambition to pursue a career in life sciences. 

Teachers: level up your understanding of life sciences career skills and industry trends. Collaborate with bioscience experts from Ohio Life Sciences during our 1 Day teacher workshop. 

Designed for teachers of Biology, AP Biology, Biotech, and 8th grade science, along with others interested in learning more about life sciences careers in Ohio, this workshop explores NGSS-aligned concepts and equips students for careers in life sciences.

During the workshop, teachers:

• DO career-focused bioscience investigations
• VISIT an industry site applying the science you teach
• ENGAGE with industry experts during a catered dinner

Hands-on investigations include: biotech lab skill stations, protein expression and purification, BACE simulation, pathogen transmission and immune response. 

As a result of this workshop, you’ll: 

• Know… how to teach design thinking and writing protocols
• Understand… bioinformatics teaching techniques
• Be able to… guide students in modeling protein synthesis, expressing proteins, and purifying proteins.

• Supplies to facilitate activities in your classroom
