Odditree Ride: Slow Growth Edition

Ghisallo Cycling Initiative and The Odditree Society join forces for a gentle, reflective bike ride through three distinct green spaces in central Austin—an invitation to slow down, tune in, and experience the city through a different lens.

This ride will take us through 3 distinct green spaces in central Austin. At each stop, we’ll dismount and spend time with trees that have lived vastly different lives within the same urban landscape. Together, we’ll notice their forms, textures, and histories, considering the quiet ways they shape and witness the city around us.

Along the way we'll pay attention to our bodies, the landscape, and the ephemeral flux that surrounds us but often goes un-noticed. This ride is an exploration of perception and context, of how we come to know a place through our senses and our bodies.

Expect moments of stillness. We may kick off our shoes, touch the ground, or linger longer than usual. There’s no rush—only an openness to what unfolds when we allow ourselves to move slowly and pay attention.

We'll wrap with a charcuterie picnic at the Boggy Creek Pavilion.

Come as you are. Bring water, something soft to throw on the ground, your curiosity, and a willingness to be here, now.

BYO-Bike (and helmet) or reserve a loaner from Ghisallo.

Fully Refundable Ticket:

A fully refundable deposit is required to hold your reservation.

• Cancel by 11:59pm Friday, April 10th CST for full refund of the ticket.
• Show up to the event and the ticket cost will be returned when your attendance is confirmed.
• Cancellations after April 10th will be considered a donation to another partipant's attendance.
• No show to the event on event day will be considered a donation to Ghisallo to cover the event cost.
• Fully refunded if Ghisallo cancels the event for any reason (weather, plague, etc.)

Ghisallo Cycling Initiative is an Austin-based non-profit focused on making cycling accessible for all ages and all abilities.

The Odditree Society is a loose collective of urban wanderers and wonderers—artists, philosophers, scientists, nut-gatherers, tree-climbers, and the curious—who cultivate a sense of wonder around unusual trees in Austin’s urban landscape.

This ride is supported by Get There ATX, helping Austinites access more of the city through alternative and multi-modal transportation.
