About this Event
What does it mean to run an emergent architecture studio in Brooklyn today?
Join a candid conversation with local practitioners navigating one of the most visible and complicated design contexts in the world.
Brooklyn is both a place and a brand, layered with history, shaped by constant development, and full of competing pressures. For small studios, practice here means balancing ambition with constraint. Tight sites, complex approvals, evolving client expectations, and a cultural identity that is constantly being redefined all play a role.
This salon will explore how the borough shapes the way we work, from the projects we pursue to the values we bring to them. We will talk openly about the opportunities, the friction points, and the realities behind “brand Brooklyn,” including what resonates, what feels overplayed, and where there is room to push.
Looking ahead, we will consider the next five to ten years. What role can small studios play in shaping Brooklyn’s future? How do we stay thoughtful, nimble, and relevant as the city continues to evolve?
An informal, engaging discussion for those interested in practice, place, and the future of design in Brooklyn.
Light refreshments will be served.
