About this Event
We have designed the ‘An Understanding of Child Exploitation’ series because we acknowledge that practitioners have differing levels of experience and therefore different training needs. This means that a less experienced practitioner or a practitioner who wants to refresh and update their knowledge around child exploitation could choose to attend both modules, whilst a practitioner just wanting to focus on the needs of the child may only want to attend the second module.
Where possible we are offering both modules in one day and these will be repeated monthly. This enables practitioners to attend modules either as a day’s training or spread over time.
This session is designed to be either stand-alone or to be part one of our two-part ‘An Understanding of Child Exploitation’ series. In part one, we provide attendees with an overview and understanding of all the components of Modern Slavery including sexual and criminal exploitation and human trafficking.
For practitioners to effectively support children impacted by abuse through exploitation we must recognise the level of manipulation and brutality that perpetrators often use to groom and control.
This session explores this including vulnerabilities that perpetrators look to exploit and how their methods often prevent children from recognising or disclosing this form of abuse. We conclude by briefly encouraging attendees to identify signs and indicators of exploitation which we need to look for and respond to in order to safeguard our children.
This is developed further in part two of our ‘An Understanding of Child Exploitation’ series, ‘Child Exploitation – Responding to the Needs of the Child’.
