Nunu Ceremony: A Sacred Amazonian Grounding Ritual

Join us for an intimate evening of prayer, grounding, and connection through the sacred Amazonian medicine Nunu.

Rooted in the traditions of the Matsés (Mayoruna) people of the Peruvian Amazon, Nunu is a finely ground sacred snuff prepared from wild tobacco (Nicotiana rustica) and the ashes of specific rainforest trees. For generations, it has been used as a sacred medicine to cultivate clarity, resilience, presence, and a deeper connection with nature.

Unlike simply receiving a substance, the Nunu ceremony is considered an energetic transmission. The facilitator offers the medicine with focused intention, prayer, and presence, supporting each participant in reconnecting with themselves and the wisdom of the Earth.

Nunu is traditionally administered into each nostril using a ceremonial applicator. The experience can be physically intense for a few moments, often bringing watery eyes, clearing of the sinuses, heightened alertness, and a profound sense of grounding.

After receiving the medicine, we will move into guided meditation, quiet reflection, and integration, allowing space to deepen your connection with yourself, your intention, and the natural world.

No prior experience is necessary. Participants are invited to come with an open heart, a clear intention, and respect for this sacred indigenous tradition.

Carol is a medicine woman, Family Constellation facilitator, energy healer, yoga teacher, and founder of Nirvana Healing Arts. Her work integrates Amazonian wisdom, Family Constellations, sound healing, breathwork, meditation, and ancestral healing to create grounded, heart-centered spaces for transformation.

Carol facilitates this ceremony with deep respect for the indigenous traditions from which Nunu originates. Her intention is to provide a safe, supportive environment where participants can reconnect with themselves, the wisdom of nature, and their own inner guidance.

The ceremony will take place in a peaceful private loft in Union Square, Somerville, just a short walk from the Green Line Union Square T Station.

The exact address will be shared with registered participants prior to the event.

A friendly resident cat will be onsite during the ceremony.

Nunu is legal in the United States. Participation is entirely voluntary, and all attendees are required to sign a liability waiver before the ceremony.
