About this Event
Join us at the NEXT Nottingham Charity Network event- 'Volunteer Recruitment & Retention'!
Expect insights into the changing volunteer expectations, practical initiatives and trends shaping the sector, real stories from organisations doing things differently and strategies to support and grow your volunteer community.
Hear from our speakers…
Our speakers will explore the evolving landscape of volunteering - from motivations and initiatives to new models of engagement - and share practical takeaways to help organisations strengthen, sustain and celebrate their volunteer programmes.
The event will also include a Q&A panel with a diverse group of volunteers, creating space for open and honest discussion about the realities of volunteering and what inspires individuals to stay committed to a cause long-term. Bring your questions and challenges - this is an opportunity to learn from one another and from those who are truly the backbone of our organisations.
Speaker details to be announced in the new year!
Following the momentum of our successful re-launch and December event last year, we’re excited to continue building this space for Nottingham’s charities and changemakers to connect, learn, and collaborate in 2026.
Whether you're a charity leader, volunteer coordinator, fundraiser, comms professional, or part of a grassroots organisation - this session is packed with useful insights to help you thrive.
Thank you to our venue host — Canalhouse
The Canalhouse is an iconic, award-winning pub in the heart of Nottingham, housed in a heritage-rich former canal museum. A trailblazer in Nottingham’s craft beer scene and is a must-visit venue for beer lovers and a local landmark. With the canal as your backdrop and a spacious, relaxed setting, it’s the perfect spot for conversation, connection and community building. The Canalhouse also proudly supports the city’s charity community through hosting events, festivals and fundraisers throughout the year.
Spotlight Organisation: Nottingham Trent University
We are delighted to welcome Nottingham Trent University (NTU) as our Spotlight Organisation for our February event. NTU is a major contributor to Nottingham’s social and voluntary landscape – supporting local causes through student volunteering, research, partnerships and wide range of community initiatives.
We’re pleased to be joined by Hannah Charlton from NTU, who will share more about their work, their approach to community engagement and how charities across the region can collaborate with them through Community Engaged Learning (CEL) programme. This programme brings students and community organisations together on projects shaped by clearly identified community needs, creating meaningful opportunities where both students and local community partners can benefit.
Hannah works closely with academics and community organisations to develop and deliver CEL projects that support capacity-building, innovation and real social impact across Nottingham.
Relaxed, friendly networking
...And of course, there’ll be plenty of time to network with Nottingham’s fantastic charity and business community!
We can’t wait to welcome both familiar and new faces. It’s not one to miss! See you there.
