About this Event

Not Just Another Off Trail Mystery Hike

Actually it is just another Off Trail Mystery Hike! We did it last year and everyone loved it!

Join us for a meander through an unspecified sector of the park. Since this is a "Mystery" hike it won't be if we reveal too much information here. Right? All we can tell you is to trust us to take you to an area where you almost certainly have never been. Even if you have been there, this area has all the features that anyone could want to experience on this mountain, short of going to the peak, so going back would be just fine! The terrain is variable as you might expect, rocky and steep, steep and not rocky, not rocky and not steep demands good navigation around obstacles expected and unexpected, great views horizontally and semi vertically, off the beaten track, maybe some bushwacking, great wonderful and sometimes scary views, opportunities to scramble and maybe climb class 2 (with hands) and not least of all great guides and almost all free (more or less), there is no place quite like this area known and probably unknown anywhere else in the park.

This hike will be predominately off-trail.

Don't forget to wonder and think on how all this topography came about over eons of time.

This hike will be led by Spencer Ballard , veteran guide for the Mt. San Jacinto Natural History Association. Preparedness and safety are of paramount importance.
