Nightingale 1 Public Tours

Nightingale Housing provides apartments that are socially, financially and environmentally sustainable. We believe that homes should be built for people, not profit. Nightingale 1 is the first project delivered by Nightingale Housing.

Nightingale 1 embodies the reductionist design ethos of Nightingale's principles. Its materiality is simple and sustainable, a value that permeates every aspect of the building.

On our tours, which kick off at 10:30am sharp on a Tuesday, you will hear from a Nightingale expert on the history, ethos, construction, design and technical features of Nightingale 1. We sometimes host some afternoon slots as well!

FAQs

Where does my money go? All profits from the tour go back to the Nightingale 1 community. Half goes to Nightingale Housing for the time and administration associated with running the tours. The other half goes to the Nightingale 1 Owners Corporation. A small fee is also paid to the specific resident who generously opens their home to offer others a sneak peek into the Nightingale world.

How long are the tours? The tour runs for 60 minutes, including time for questions in the Florence Street Parklet. At the same time you can support our tenants, social enterprise For Change Cafe, who will be happy to sell you a yummy coffee, tea or snack.

Can we take photos? You are welcome to take photos of common areas but it is strictly forbidden to photograph private apartments, please be mindful of taking photos of residents going about their daily activities. Also please respect your fellow tour members and do not let your photography delay the tour. (Photographs may be taken by the Nightingale team for promotional purposes. Just let us know if you'd prefer not to be included.)

Will we see inside apartments? Wherever possible we will arrange for you to view an apartment - although this is not guaranteed. We respect the needs of Nightingale 1 residents and so where there are apartment tours we ask that you keep together and refrain from touching personal items or taking photos inside apartments.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event? We love children but our tours include private residences so we cannot accommodate children under 10.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? No need to bring a printed ticket, an electronic ticket is fine.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends? For security reasons, tours are not transferable. Please name all people you are purchasing for.
