The Fin makes its North American premiere as part of the New Voice section of the inaugural LA Korean Film Festival.

Selected for Locarno, Sarajevo and Sitges, Park Sye-young’s science-fiction thriller explores exploitation, prejudice and the human cost of state ideology through a dystopian postwar Korea.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with director Park Sye-young and actor Go Woo.

SYNOPSIS

In a ravaged postwar Korea, mutant Omegas are exploited as laborers. Government employee Sujin begins to question the official doctrine as she searches for Mia, a fugitive Omega.

GUEST BIOS

PARK SYE-YOUNG is a multidisciplinary filmmaker whose work on The Fin spans directing, screenwriting, cinematography, editing, music and visual design. The film was selected for Locarno’s Concorso Cineasti del Presente and later screened at Sarajevo and Sitges.

GO WOO appears in The Fin and will join the director for the post-screening conversation.
