Learn the art of plate throwing in this focused 2-week intermediate course designed for potters ready to take the next step.

What You’ll Make:

• 2 handmade plates, with or without mustard wells

Who It’s For:

• Potters with some wheel experience
• You should be able to competently centre clay and throw 1lb
• Also great for beginners feeling stuck and ready to progress beyond cylinders

What You’ll Learn:

Week 1:

• Challenges of throwing wide, flat forms
• Techniques for plate shapes and mustard well design

Week 2:

• Turning techniques and foot ring creation
• Slip decorating your plates

Optional Week 3 (+£20):

• Glaze your bisque-fired plates using our in-house Amaco and Mayco glazes (available to purchase) or bring your own

Included in Your Course:

• Unlimited clay and slips for decoration
• Expert tuition
• Transparent glaze & firing of your finished plates
• 2 hours studio time each week
• Please allow 20 minutes for clean-up
