Needlefelted Christmas Decorations

In this fun workshop you’ll be making lovely needlefelted Christmas decorations in your choice of colours and designs.

Debbie will be demonstrating some simple felting and embellishing techniques and showing you how to create your decorations. Choose your gorgeous wool fibres and threads to make your own design. Embellish with stitch, beads and threads if you wish and take home your lovely felted ornaments at the end of the session.

This event is suitable for complete beginners as well as those who want to brush up their skills or just enjoy a couple of hours making lovely handcrafted decorations!

• How to set up your space, what equipment and materials you will use and how to prepare your fibre for felting
• The essential principles of needlefelting – what types of felting methods there are, what fibres you can felt and how the fibres are used.
• How to create a 2D piece of felt, working with colours, layering and pattern.
• Adding embellishments.
• Finishing your ornaments with stitching and other techniques

Just yourself! Debbie will provide a wide range of beautiful coloured fibres, threads and embellishments. All the equipment and materials as well as light refreshments are included.

Debbie loves to teach and has been a felter for over 20 years so you'll be able to pick her brains for tips, tricks and hacks! Debbie's sessions are fun and enjoyable. The pace is relaxed and there is plenty of time to ask questions and chat.

Debbie has been a textile artist for over 30 years. Debbie teaches wet and needle-felting, nuno felting and mixed media textiles. Debbie is the author of 6 internationally published books, Hand-Dyed Yarn Craft Projects, Complete Knitting Skills, 250 Knitting Stitches, Knitting.Learn it.Love it, How to Knit and Cable Knitting Stitch Dictionary.

When she's not felting, dyeing, designing, knitting or crocheting, you'll find her in the garden, tending her dyeplants, enjoying a nice craft beer or hugging a big mug of builders' tea. And if you're out and about, she can often be found in the mosh pit at a gig or enjoying some folk music!
