ABOUT NCECA
The National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the ceramic arts through education, community, and innovation. With over 4,500 members worldwide, NCECA fosters connections among artists, educators, and enthusiasts. Its annual conference—featuring lectures, demonstrations, and exhibitions—rotates across U.S. cities, showcasing excellence in the field. NCECA also supports year-round learning through publications, media, and fellowship opportunities that encourage research and artistic growth. Sponsored exhibitions, including the NCECA Annual, Multicultural Fellowship Exhibition, and Juried Student Exhibition, highlight diverse voices and perspectives, strengthening the global ceramic arts community.
ABOUT THE NCECA JURIED STUDENT EXHIBITION
The 2026 NCECA Juried Student Exhibition will run concurrently with VOLUMES, the 60th annual conference of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts, Detroit, Michigan, March 25-28, 2026. Ceramic artist Eva Kwong and Gary Garrido Schneider, Executive Director of Grounds for Sculpture (Montclair, New Jersey), juried the Exhibition.
The NCECA Juried Student Exhibition showcases innovative ceramic works by emerging artists from undergraduate, graduate, and post-baccalaureate programs across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Highlighting the next generation of ceramic talent, the exhibition celebrates creativity, technical skill, and contemporary perspectives within the field of ceramic art.
JURORS
Eva Kwong (b. 1954, Hong Kong) is an American Postwar & Contemporary ceramic artist. She studied at RISD and Tyler School of Art and taught at Kent State and Ohio State. Her works are held internationally. A 2018 NCECA Excellence in Teaching Award recipient, she’s been featured in Hyperallergic and Cleveland.com.
Gary Garrido Schneider is Executive Director of Grounds for Sculpture in New Jersey. An artist, educator, and museum leader with over 20 years of experience, he has served at institutions such as the Montclair Art Museum and the Brooklyn Museum. A Parsons BFA graduate, he champions museums’ social responsibility and broad arts accessibility.
