In February, a bipartisan group of Michigan state representatives wrote to U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., and the National Institutes of Health to ask that they deny continued funding for the Wayne State experiments. In a separate letter, three Michigan state senators wrote to Wayne State’s interim president to ask that he “end the unproductive, deadly dog experiments.”
State legislation is also gaining support. Queenie’s Law (HB 4254 and SB 127) would prohibit painful dog experiments at public institutions like Wayne State. The bills are supported by Lions tight end Sam LaPorta, his wife Callie, Lions tight end Brock Wright, and his fiancée Carley Johnston—all of whom have written to leaders of the Legislature.
We hope to see you there! If you have any questions, please contact Ryan Merkley: [email protected] or 202-527-7336
