NCACE Collection Summer Showcase
About this Event

We are delighted to welcome you to our NCACE Collection Summer Showcase, where we will be in discussion with some of the authors of and contributors to our most recent publications. These include:

A Community of Practice for Independent Researchers: Scoping NCACE’s Independent Researchers Network (IRN) Author: Dr 'Funmi Adewole Elliott, Editor: Suzie Leighton
Shaking the Soil off the Roots: A Personal Reflection on growing Systems of Support for Interdisciplinary Practice and Research, 1997 – 2007 (and after) Dr Bronaċ Ferran
Artists and creative practitioners working with Higher Education: Case Studies, reflections and resources. Evelyn Wilson (NCACE) and Dr Sarah Sigal with the following contributors: Professor Penny Hay (Bath Spa University), Sarah Campbell (University of Exeter), Professor Rhiannon Jones (University of Derby), Professor Rowan Bailey (University of Huddersfield), Amy Carter-Gordon (Sheffield Hallam University), Will Cenci (Goldsmiths, University of London) and Jen Wong (Science Gallery, King’s College London) and Emily Barrett. Our interviewees included: Nehal Aamir, Sara Adhitya (Person-Environment-Activity Research Laboratory, University College London), Dan Auluk, Jonathan Bradley (University of Sheffield), Anne-Marie Culhane, Neela Doležalová, Anna Dumitriu, Dr 'Funmi Adewole Elliott, Bryony Ella, Linda France, John Fulljames (University of Oxford), Monika Gravagno (Facciocose), Owen Griffiths (Ways of Working), Professor David Harradine (Fevered Sleep & Royal Central School of Speech and Drama), Daniel Hawley-Lingham (AA2A), Sue Horth, Ruth Jarman (Semiconductor), Dr Cynthia Johnston (School of Advanced Study, University of London), James Kennaby, Dr Johanna Kieniewicz (King’s College London), Chris Manias (King’s College London), Nela Milic (Buckinghamshire New University), Jamie Perera, Rawz, Nasia Sarwar-Skuse (Swansea University), Nicola Simpson (Norwich University of the Arts) and Claire Thompson.

In 2022, we launched the NCACE Collection, as a new online resource to act as an archive and home for our commissioned research reports, essays and think-pieces, case studies, blogs and mini-toolkits. All our publications are on topics that relate to collaborations between Higher Education and the arts and cultural sectors; a praxis we often refer to as Cultural Knowledge Exchange.
Over the last four years, the Collection has been evolving as a space to house, showcase and grow awareness about the themes relating broadly to this emerging area of work. It is intended to inspire and encourage fresh thinking, new writing, story-telling, deep reflection and slow and engaged readership on collaborative ecologies between Higher Education and the arts and cultural sector. Not merely a ‘what works’ but a ‘why’ too.
The Summer Showcase presents an opportunity to hear from some of our recent contributors and to explore ideas for what kinds of materials might be valuable to support our future understanding about the diversity of collaborative practices between universities and the arts and culture sectors, and their power to generate a diverse panoply of powerful impacts and values.
The NCACE Collection lies at the heart of our Knowledge, Evidence and Impact work. Many of the publications featured in the Collection feed into or emerge from conversations with researchers, arts and culture professionals and practitioners and knowledge exchange specialists. Our intention is for this body of resources to not only be informative but to also provide fresh insights and inspiration on the impacts, the doing and the values of doing Cultural Knowledge Exchange.
We will be announcing our contributor line-up in the coming weeks.
We look forward to welcoming you.
