A course for those who already have some proven walking and navigation experience who want to develop the skills further and consolidate them and ideally have already completed the NNAS Bronze Award. Taking place on 15-16 August 2026. Course fee per person £120.The 2-day NNAS Silver Award is based in various hill and moorland locations around the Isle of Man. We spend two days walking in the glorious Isle of Man countryside, consolidating and developing the map reading and navigation skills needed to plan and follow your own walks away from paths and tracks. We focus on navigation skills including primary and secondary features, use of contours, compass skills, bearings, walking on the coast and upland environment and night/low visibility navigation.
On both days we use a mix of footpaths and open hill and moorland to develop the skills for the NNAS Silver syllabus and then extend our walk to include some night navigation training and exercises to build confidence. On the final we spend the whole day out on the hills to refresh the skills learned and to share practical assessments of these skills for the NNAS Silver Award.
