Historic ‘Nao Santa Maria’ to make maiden visit to Douglas!
A full-size replica of one of the world’s most famous historic ships will make its first ever visit to Douglas in September when the Nao Santa María arrives as part of its 2026 European tour.
The imitation of Christopher Columbus’s flagship, described as the protagonist of one of history’s most significant encounters between continents, will be berthed at Douglas Marina from September 2 to 6, providing a rare opportunity to step aboard and experience life as a 15th-century sailor.
The floating museum is operated by the Nao Victoria Foundation, the Spanish organisation dedicated to promoting maritime history through the operation of authentic historical tall ships.
Members of the public will be able to explore the vessel’s decks, cabins and hold while learning about the voyages that helped shape world history and the challenges faced by sailors more than 500 years ago.
Tickets are now available at https://tickets.velacuadra.es/en/1954-nao-santa-maria/13840-nao-santa-maria-in-douglas with an exclusive online advance offer available until September 1.
Community groups and school bookings are also invited to arrange organised visits. Organisers are encouraging early booking as online ticket sales will take priority and, if advance tickets sell out, none will be available at the quayside.
The ship will be open daily from 10am to 8pm while in Douglas Marina from September 2-6.
