About this Event
Whose land was this originally? The five acres of land where Ten Broeck Mansion was built was once inhabited by Mahican and Mohawk Native Americans. Learn the stories of the first people to live on this land, the history of the Haudenosaunee, and how they continued to shape the history of Albany County after first contact with Europeans. Discover Mohawk peoples' special connection with the Ten Broeck family, how Haudenosaunee culture inspired Benjamin Franklin during his visit to Albany, and how Native American communities responded to and engaged with the American Revolution.
We suggest an additional 20-30 minutes to explore our historic gardens on your own with self-guided tours and browse our museum shop of local artisan goods and books.
