Learn the stories of the Black residents of Ten Broeck Mansion and the Arbor Hill neighborhood who built our nation and expanded freedom.
About this Event

Join us for a special focus tour exploring Black history at Ten Broeck Mansion. This tour explores the lives, both free and enslaved, of Black residents of Ten Broeck Mansion and Arbor Hill, Albany's second-oldest neighborhood. Learn the stories of individuals enslaved at Ten Broeck Mansion like Susannah and her children, and be inspired by the life of Rosanna Vosburgh, the African American abolitionist, philanthropist, and paid household manager at Ten Broeck Mansion. This tour gives rich historical context to the celebration of the United States' 250th anniversary, exploring how our nation's conception of freedom was expanded by the work and leadership of Albany's Black community.

We suggest an additional 20-30 minutes to explore our historic gardens on your own with self-guided tours and browse our museum shop of local artisan goods and books.

To make your visit safe and enjoyable for all:
