Málstofa: Fyrirmæli og endurgerðir: Að varðveita verk SteinuTímamótasýningin Steina: Tímaflakk veitir kærkomið tækifæri til að stefna saman listafólki, söfnurum, forvörðum og sýningarstjórum sem starfa á sviði tímatengdra miðla til að ræða varðveislu hinnar framsæknu listsköpunar Steinu. Vasulka-stofa og Vasulka Foundation boða til málstofu, í samvinnu við Vasulka Kitchen Brno, þar sem rýnt verður í þær flóknu, tæknilegu áskoranir sem fylgja því að varðveita tímatengda list og hvernig best má heiðra listræna arfleifð Steinu. Saman munu þátttakendur velta fyrir sér skrásetningu gagna sem og sögu innsetninga, með tilliti til óstöðugleikans og umbreytinganna sem óhjákvæmilega einkenna tímatengda miðla.
Viðburðurinn er á vegum Vasulka Foundation og Vasulka-stofu í Listasafni Íslands, með stuðningi Vasulka Kitchen Brno.

Colloquium: Instructions and Iterations: Archiving Steina's Work
Description:
The milestone exhibition Steina: Playback retrospective offers a timely opportunity to convene artists, collectors, conservators, and curators working in the field of time-based media to discuss the preservation of Steina's groundbreaking work.
Building on the foundation of the archiving practices established by Steina and her husband, Woody, the Vasulka Chamber and the Vasulka Foundation are co-organizing a colloquium, with support from the Vasulka Kitchen Brno, to discuss the complex technical and stewardship challenges involved in preserving time-based media and best practices specific to Steina's artistic legacy. Instructions and Iterations will consider the preservation of data, as well as installation histories, and touch on the inherent instability, change, and obsolescence in preserving time-based media.
The event is organized by Vasulka Foundation and the Vasulka Chamber of the National Gallery of Iceland, with support from the Vasulka Kitchen Brno.
Event free, with required registration
The program will be held at the National Gallery, in the workshop space on the second floor.
