About this Event

The Culturing Dish Beach Feast
Saturday 27 June, 12–5pm
Gyllyngvase Beach, Falmouth

A frivolous fungi-themed beach picnic for meeting new people, sharing ideas and building community.

Bring games, beach things, and something tasty and fungi-themed for the beach feast. Think mushroom snacks, mycelial bakes, foresty nibbles, spore-inspired treats, or whatever “for The Dish” means to you.

We may also do a BBQ if the weather and logistics behave, so feel free to bring something BBQ-able too (there is a co-op by the beach if you need last-minute snacks/drinks).

What to bring:

  • A fungi-themed dish / a BBQ for The Dish
  • Picnic blanket
  • Suncream, sunnies and a hat
  • Beach games, regular games, cards, frisbees, balls, or anything fun
  • Optimism that it will not rain

We’ll meet on Gyllyngvase Beach. Look out for the mushroom balloon, fungi flag, or a suspiciously enthusiastic cluster of mushroom people somewhere on the sand.

Wet weather plan:
If lichens and moss start falling from the heavens, we’ll switch to a pub plan instead. Same general area, but we’ll post an update on the day and likely start from around 12pm for a relaxed wander/pub crawl nearby. Keep an eye out on socials!

Food note:
This is a casual community picnic. Food and drink are brought voluntarily by individual attendees and are not prepared, supplied, or inspected by The Culturing Dish. The Culturing Dish cannot guarantee ingredients, preparation methods, storage, allergen controls, or food safety practices for food or drink brought by attendees.

If you have allergies, intolerances, dietary requirements, medical conditions, or any concerns around food or drink, please make your own enquiries before consuming anything and decide for yourself whether it is safe for you.

Any food or drink consumed at the event is consumed entirely at your own risk. Attendance is voluntary, and participants are responsible for their own actions, safety, wellbeing and personal property while attending.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Culturing Dish, its organisers, volunteers and event hosts accept no liability for any loss, injury, illness, allergic reaction, damage or other claim arising from participation in the event, or from consuming food or drink brought by attendees.

If you bring food or drink to share, please clearly label ingredients and common allergens wherever possible as a courtesy to others.
