About the Exhibition
My Somalia brings together the work of contemporary Somali artists from Somalia and across the diaspora, offering diverse perspectives on identity, memory, belonging, resilience, and cultural heritage.
Through photography, painting, digital media, and mixed-media practices, the exhibition presents personal and collective narratives that challenge stereotypes and celebrate the richness, creativity, and complexity of Somali life. Each work offers a unique reflection on place, migration, tradition, and the evolving experiences of Somali communities across the world.
More than an art exhibition, My Somalia creates a space for connection, cultural exchange, and mutual understanding. It celebrates artistic excellence while amplifying contemporary Somali voices and fostering meaningful connections between communities.
The exhibition is organised by Global Somali Diaspora (GSD) and Yunus Emre Institute in collaboration with GlobalNet, AGA, SDS, and partner organisations.
