Short Description of Lecture
With over twenty years of experience as an Osteopath, Indera has observed a troubling rise in the number of women undergoing assisted deliveries (forceps or ventouse) or emergency caesareans. Her clinical experience has shown that when Osteopaths see a woman during pregnancy, they are in a crucial position not only to support the common discomforts of pregnancy but also to recognise the detailed musculoskeletal history that may influence the normal biomechanical changes of pregnancy and labour.
Drawing on her professional background in Midwifery, which provides a deep understanding of the birth process, and in Osteopathy, which offers insight into musculoskeletal biomechanics, Indera brings these perspectives together and will share a couple of simple techniques to support pregnant women.
Background
Indera (also known as Indi) is a graduate of the British School of Osteopathy, London. She continued with a postgraduate diploma in Classical Osteopathy at Maidstone and attends courses at the Sutherland Cranial College. She holds a postgraduate diploma in Women’s Health Osteopathy with the Molinari Institute of Health. She is a lecturer and clinical tutor at the London School of Osteopathy.
Prior to retraining as an osteopath, Indi followed a twenty year career in the NHS as a London based nurse (RGN), midwife (RM) and health visitor (PGDip HV), where she developed a committed belief to the health and wellbeing of all family members from pregnancy through to the elderly.
