This fall, Movies on the Lawn will be a spooky cinematic expansion of the themes explored in the Heritage House exhibition Quackery & Cures in the Victorian Age (on view September 5 – November 23, 2025). We invite you once again for cozy viewings of classic Hollywood films on the Heritage House lawn. Directed by Terence Fisher, this gothic horror set in 1890s Paris follows a century-old sculptor and doctor willing to do anything to prolong his youth. It stars Anton Diffring, Hazel Court, and the heroic Sir Christopher Lee. What can be done about an unscrupulous doctor willing to cheat, lie, and murder to live forever? The film explores the consequences of man vs. nature, stolen time, and justice. Continue the conversation in the Heritage House exhibition Quackery & Cures in the Victorian Age. The exhibition investigates the blurring of science and quackery in the Victorians’ risky quest for health and wellness.
