Tours of Heritage House

Reservations are required for tours. To ensure the safety of guests, docents, and the house and its contents, the maximum capacity for each tour is 12 people, including children. Walk-ins may be accepted on a first-come basis only if there are tickets remaining at the scheduled start of the tour. We regret we cannot delay the start of tours if you are late for your reserved timeslot. If you are late for your tour, we may give your tickets to waitlist guests and cannot guarantee you a place on the tour.

This exhibition explores a period that witnessed an explosion of scientific and industrial progress, which then led to an increase in population and, perhaps not coincidentally, an increase in medical maladies. Amid all this change, the line between cures and quackery grew blurred. And the struggle to find relief from incurable, painful, and deadly ailments led many Victorians to try a variety of useless or even dangerous patent medicines and quack remedies.
