Meet The Chef:
The Providore's Head of Pastry - Chef Zulfeqar Zulkifli
Chef Zul’s love affair with the craft of pastry-making began with a part-time stint at Grand Copthorne Hotel, where his eyes were opened to the beautiful world of semi-fine dining and more importantly, European pastries.
He wasted no time in pursuing his newfound fascination for sweets and immediately found himself at the forefront of world-renowned pastry kitchens such as Adrift, Marina Bay Sands and Les Amis, under the mentorship of Cheryl Koh who was crowned Asia’s Best Pastry Chef in 2016.
With 6 years of experience under his belt, he was ready to lead, heading pastry kitchens in internationally renowned establishments like Spago, Maison Marie and Terra Madre. With an unquenched thirst for learning and a creative heart that was overflowing, he continued his journey and found himself managing the operations and curating pastry menus for the 1 Group - the umbrella company for respected F&B concepts such as Wildseed, Bee’s Knees and 1- Altitude.
Fast forward to the present day, we are proud and honoured to have him at the helm of The Providore’s pastry team, where he leads the team in crafting our gorgeous range of cakes in our cafés with a firm belief in using high-quality and sustainably sourced ingredients.
Although he might seem shy at first, Chef Zul’s passion shines through when he starts talking about his love for the craft. His dream is to share the art of making good cakes and pastries, and he believes that anyone can create something beautiful, as long as it’s done with the right spirit!
