More Than One Spectrum in the Room: working with trans & autistic clients
About this Event
More Than One Spectrum in the Room: working with trans & autistic clients
Offered virtually AND in person
This 2 hour training introduces a spectrum-aware, gender and neurodiversity-affirming framework for therapeutic work with transgender and autistic clients, emphasizing clinical attunement, ethical practices, and strengths-based care.
Participants will explore how gender diversity and autism can intersect in lived experience, how systemic oppression and invalidation impact individuals’ mental health, and how common assumptions can unintentionally create barriers to engagement and retention in care. Through clinical examples and applied strategies, this training focuses on practical ways to adapt assessment, communication, and intervention to support both identities within the therapy room. Experiential activities will also be presented for use with clients and self for greater understanding.
