Monday Afternoon Playgroup - Sensory Friendly Playgroup
About this Event
Our resource center will be transformed into a sensory-friendly environment with dim lights, sensory activities, and quiet movement breaks. This event is aimed at families or caregivers with children aged 18 months to 5 years who might find the morning drop-ins overwhelming and for children who have special needs (no diagnosis necessary).
Who can participate: Parents and caregivers with children 18 months to 5 years old.
When: September 21st, from 1:30pm-3:30pm
Where: 333 Churchill Avenue North, Ottawa.This event will take place at the resource centre of Children’s Village of Ottawa-Carleton, located at the back of the building. You can access this entrance on foot through the employee parking lot.
What to expect:
- Dim lights
- Variety of sensory activities
- Mess-free art
- Movement break toys
- Cozy corner
- Fine motor activities
Snack is included and will be served from 2:15 pm.
Schedule
1:30-3:20 - Free play. Children are invited to engage in the activities set up.
2:15 pm - snack time for those who would like to eat (snack will stay open until 3:00pm)
3:20 - clean up and circle time with rhyme songs
3:30 pm - closing. Time to go home! Thanks for coming :)
What to bring: indoor shoes (or children are welcome to play in socks) and a water bottle.
Important notes:
*Don’t worry if you arrive a little later or need to leave early. We want everyone to feel comfortable and to participate at their own pace. Make sure to register to save your spot!
*Parking note. Please note that we have no parking on site. You can find free 3-hour parking on nearby streets such as Wilmont Ave, Whitby Ave, or Madison Ave, or paid 2-hour parking along Churchill Avenue.
If you come walking, stroller parking is available at the back by the entrance door.
