About this Event
We have received funding from the Anti-Racism Observatory for Scotland (AROS) to conduct a focus group on experiences of systemic racism.
THIS EVENT IS FOR PEOPLE OF MIXED-RACE BACKGROUNDS ONLY.
The goal of the AROS is to work to remove structural racism from the way public institutions make policy and strengthen how public institutions are held to account for their work on anti-racism. In doing so it is hoped to bring about real and lasting change. Future AROS will be built through co-production with people with lived expertise.
The wider study aims to find out what people with lived experience of racism think the AROS should do and how they might want to be involved with it, as well as learning more about the diversity of adversely racialised communities in Scotland. People with a mixed-race background have a unique experience and we think mixed folk should be part of the conversation.
The fund has been awarded with a short window to host the focus group. The focus group will be facilitated and designed by mixed people. All 15 participants will receive £80 for participation plus £5 travel fund and an evening meal will be provided. Additional access funds are available, please get in touch. Participants will need to complete a data consent form with diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) data, and conversations at the focus group will be recorded and shared with AROS’s representatives.
