Design Under Pressure | Resilience + Impact
Resilience in design is not simply surviving change. It is becoming more capable because of it.
Join us for an engaging and interactive afternoon with regional designers and creatives across disciplines as we explore Resilience + Impact. Designed for creatives at every stage of their careers, MIX Design Day 2026 will focus on how we respond when things get hard, stay relevant as the profession changes, and strengthen the design community together.
Expect great conversation, engaging content and a few surprises along the way.
Sessions
Recalculating Resilience | Embracing the Anti-Fragile Mindset: Designers are problem solvers by nature, but today’s challenges demand more than simply finding the right answer. This session explores what it means to become more resilient and even stronger when faced with stress, uncertainty, change and difficult problems.
Design Without Borders | Cross-Pollinating Ideas, Skills and Opportunities: The design professions are changing rapidly. New technologies, emerging disciplines, evolving client expectations and shifting career paths are redefining what it means to be a designer. Explore how connecting ideas across disciplines can expand your skills, strengthen your network and create a more adaptable professional journey.
Design Is a Team Sport | Building the Community That Builds Us: A strong design community does not happen around us. It happens because we participate in building it. This session explores the people, ideas and connections that shape Southwest Michigan’s design community, the region’s unique design legacy and the role we all play in determining what comes next.

Registration opens at 12:15 pm.
The program begins at 1:00 pm and concludes at 5:00 pm.
The day closes with the MIX Networking and Reception from 5:00 to 6:30 pm.
Paid parking is available at the Catalyst Center and surronding area.

Parking
The Catalyst Center is located inside the Warner Building at 180 E. Water Street, with convenient guest parking available in the attached Warner Building ramp (gold star on the map). Additional parking options are available nearby, including the Radisson Plaza ramp, Kalamazoo Parking Ramp on Portage Street, and Parking Pride on Eleanor Street. Each is within a short walk of the venue.
