Mini-Clinic & Community Climb: Tips & Tricks to Using Guidebooks
About this Event
Description:
Join NY3C for a free community mini-clinic and climb session at Rat Rock in Central Park.
Eager to explore new crags, but don't know where to start? At this mini-clinic, you'll learn how guidebooks can be a great tool for planning your visit to new climbing areas, reading routes, choosing your projects, and more. Afterwards, you'll get hands-on practice using the NYC Bouldering guidebook to send your climb at Rat Rock!
No formal instruction or prior outdoor experience required. Come hang out, ask questions, and connect with others interested in climbing outside.
Volunteers from NY3C will be on hand to support new climbers throughout the session.
What are Mini-Clinics?
The outdoors should be for everyone, but not everyone has access to the knowledge and education around it. NY3C hosts mini-clinics to help bridge that gap and make outdoor climbing more accessible, safe, and community-centered.
What to bring?
Water & snacks, climbing shoes, and chalk are the basics. If you have a crashpad or small towel, please bring them too!
Cost:
Outdoor Mini-Clinics are free to attend, but we suggest a donation of $10 to continue supporting programs like this.
Arrival:
Please arrive by 5:45 pm so we can start on time.
