About the event

For our first Grand Rounds of the Fall 2026 semester, Errol Pierre, MPA, DBA, will give an overview of the Healthfirst model, describing the demographics of customers served, the disparities they face, and the interventions that address them.



About the speaker

Dr. Errol Pierre is the Chief Growth Officer at Healthfirst, where he leads product development, sales, and community engagement efforts for approximately two million members across New York State. He previously served as the Chief Operating Officer of Empire BlueCross BlueShield.

Pierre completed his undergraduate from Fordham University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance, and holds a Master of Public Administration in Health Policy from New York University, as well as a Doctorate in Business Administration from Baruch College.

He also serves as an adjunct professor at New York University, Columbia University, and Baruch College. Pierre serves on the board of the Citizens Budget Commission and the Arthur Ashe Institute of Health. He is also a member of the national 100 Black Men Health & Wellness Committee.

Pierre is the author of "The Way Up: Climbing the Corporate Mountain as a Professional of Color," published by Wiley.


This lecture will be on the CUNY SPH campus, but those who are unable to attend in person will be able to tune in to a livestream of the lecture via Zoom. All registrants should RSVP. Virtual attendees will receive the livestream link after registering.
