About this Event
Flomation is a visual workflow automation platform built by Andy Esser and Dave McElin, two technical founders who got tired of watching businesses throw manual effort at problems that should be automated. The platform lets teams design, connect and automate workflows visually, bringing together the tools, data and processes they already rely on. It was never designed to be an AI product. But it turns out that when you build a platform for orchestrating workflows, giving AI agents structured, repeatable tasks to follow is a pretty natural fit.
Which brings us to the dogfooding. Or, as we prefer to call it, drinking our own champagne.
As a two-person startup, Andy and Dave faced a familiar challenge: endless work, zero slack, and no budget for a team of ten. So they built one. Today, Flomation operates as a team of ten. Eight of those team members are AI agents, built on the platform itself, each with a specific role: PA, Software Engineer, DevOps Engineer, Content and Marketing, Finance, Sales, Customer Success and Product. These agents don't freestyle. They follow structured workflows, using automation for the repeatable stuff and reasoning only where judgement genuinely matters.
The result isn't a story about replacing people. It's a story about two people achieving output that would normally demand a much larger team, because they built the tools to make that possible.
In this talk, Andy will walk through how Flomation's agents are designed, where the line sits between automation and reasoning, and what the "augmentation gap" really means when you're living inside it every day. Whether you're new to AI or already building with it, you'll leave with a practical framework for thinking about where agents actually add value.
And yes, AI wrote this...
