Emerging from the heart of Somerset West, South Africa, Millennium is taking the Afrikaans rock scene by storm. Formed during the 2020 lockdown by brothers Hendré and Morné Baard, the band has since grown to include Ruan van Niekerk and Leo Zondagh, completing a lineup that blends raw talent with electrifying energy.Millennium's journey began with their debut single, Ewigheid, accompanied by a music video filmed on their family farm. The video not only showcased their deep roots but also set the tone for their authentic and heartfelt approach to music.
Following this, they released a string of hits in 2023, including Soen My Rou, Vakansie Vir My Siel, Sosiale Media, Judy, Hoer In Beton, and Wat Dink Die Mense —solidifying their place in the industry.
A standout moment in their career was collaborating with the legendary Koos Kombuis on the track Hoer In Beton. Recording with Kombuis was an incredible experience for the band, who grew up inspired by his trailblazing contributions to Afrikaans rock. Reflecting on the collaboration, the band shared, “Working with Koos was surreal. His authenticity and passion for music are contagious, and we learned so much from his approach to storytelling through song.”
