Manchester Museum is excited to announce the Manchester premiere of Milestone: Streets Paves with Gold! Join us for an evening of celebration of Caribbean-British heritage and an honouring of Windrush generation histories.

is a powerful new film honouring the Windrush generation and the Caribbean migration experience in Britain. Adapted from Victor Richards’ acclaimed one-man play, this 60-minute cinematic journey follows Augustus Cleveland Johnson from his 1948 arrival in England through decades of resilience, family, culture, and identity. Blending voiceover, vivid recreations, and historical archives, the film immerses viewers in a heartfelt tribute to a generation that helped shape modern Britain. Filmed across Leicester and the Midlands, it’s a moving, sensory celebration of Caribbean-British heritage.

The film will be opened with an introduction from Chilren's Author Carrol May Nelson and followed by a live Q&A with Victor Richards and local guests.

This event is part of Manchester Museum's Caribbean Nights series. Caribbean Nights are themed quarterly events that invite Manchester's local Caribbean communities to come together to explore, share and celebrate Caribbean heritage.
