Have you ever made a mooncake by yourself? Join us for a hands-on cooking session where we’ll make Suzhou savory mooncakes. Originating from the Suzhou area in Jiangsu, China, Suzhou Savory mooncake is known for its rich ground pork fillings and crisp, flaky pastry. We will also taste some different styles of mooncake from local Chinatown bakeries. By the end of this workshop, you can bring freshly baked mooncakes home and maybe find your favorite mooncake for this year’s celebration!

Our workshop instructor will be Lilian Ho, a woman in engineering originally from Shanghai. She is now retired and loves cooking, knitting, math, and spending time with her grandsons.

In the face of ongoing gentrification, it's crucial for us to unite in support of our Chinatown and DTES communities, honor our elders and their cultural heritage, and revel in the collective joy of artistic expression.

Through each Chinatown Together event, we are dedicated to backing grassroots efforts, amplifying the genuine voices of our community, reclaiming our cultural roots and safe spaces, and standing firmly united against encroaching gentrification. Celebrating community joy is our most powerful resistance to these forces - let's come together and celebrate in Chinatown as one!
