About this Event

Course: Mental Health First Aid, Villa Park, The Holte Hub, Trinity Road, Birmingham, B6 6HE

The Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) program delivers to individuals the tools they need to recognise the symptoms of mental ill health, provide initial help, guide a person towards appropriate professional help, and be mindful of their own wellbeing. This course qualifies you as a Mental Health First Aider ®, allowing you to;

  • Recognise those that may be experiencing poor mental health and provide them with first-level support and early intervention
  • Encourage a person to identify and access sources of professional help and other supports
  • Practise active listening and empathy
  • Have a conversation with improved mental health literacy around language and stigma
  • Know how to use the MHFAider Support App®

Everyone who completes the course gets:

  • A hard copy workbook to support their learning throughout the course
  • A digital manual to refer to whenever they need it after completing the course
  • A wallet-sized reference card with the Mental Health First Aid action plan
  • A digital MHFAider® certificate
  • Access to the new MHFAider Support App® for three years
  • The opportunity to be part of the Association of Mental Health First Aiders, the only of its kind with a collective power to raise awareness and understanding of mental health stigma.

Learning:

Learning takes place in person at The Holte Hub. Training is delivered through a mix of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities. We limit numbers to 16 people per course so that the instructor can keep people safe and supported while they learn.

YOU MUST ATTEND BOTH DAYS TO QUALIFY AS A MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AIDER®

Once you register:

You will receive a comprehensive welcome email giving you all of the details you will need to successfully complete the course from start to completion.
