Although FREE, BOOKING WILL BE REQUIRED so that we can ensure enough people are attending each meeting (as I live in Argyll and Bute and the other facilitator lives in Paisley - so we don't want to travel to a Cafe and there's no one attending that month given we are giving up our time and resources for free in our own time).

BACKGROUND INFORMATION ABOUT MENOPAUSE CAFES
The Menopause Café movement started in Perth, Scotland, in 2017 by Rachel Weiss and is now a registered charity in Scotland. Menopause Cafe has spread worldwide, with volunteers now hosting pop-up events in the UK, Bahrain, Mexico, USA, Austria and India. The charity also organise an annual Menopause Festival, #FlushFest.
Rachel Weiss, founder of the Menopause Café charity, says, “The Menopause Café is for everyone who wants to talk about the menopause, to share their stories, experiences and questions - all made that little bit easier with tea and cake''.Menopause Cafés are aimed at breaking down the stigma around menopause and increasing awareness of the impact of the menopause on those experiencing it, their family, friends and colleagues.
A Menopause Café is a discussion group and supportive space to chat about all things perimenopuase, menopause and postmenopause. It is open to all ages and genders: no talks, no experts, topics are chosen by participants.
What a Menopause Café is:
* A discussion group. We don't set agendas - discussion topics emerge and are discussed by participants.
* Accessible, respectful and confidential space. All journeys and related choices are different - we listen to each other with curiosity, aiming to understand, not necessarily agree.
* Open to all regardless of age or gender
* Not for profit. Cafes are not about selling things. They are about participants supporting each other. We don't charge for people to come and have a chat.
* No intention to leading to any conclusion, product or course of action e.g. no speakers
.* Impartial to the way ahead. Everyone's menopause is unique, so Cafes are supportibe spaces to help people to learn, to make sense of their journey or to consider options. They never promote a particualr product or course of action.
What a Menopause Café isn't:
* A support or therapy group
* An information event or talk
* About doing community engagement, research or consultation
We hope to see you at a Cafe soon!
