Come and learn real medieval embroidery stitches with Sadie Gilker.
About this Event

In this workshop we will be drawing inspiration from the Bayeux Tapestry, one of the most iconic examples of medieval embroidery.

What you can expect during this 2 hour workshop: A little history:

We will delve into the history of the tapestry. Exploration: You will learn some of the stitches commonly used in the medieval period

Motifs:

You will have options of patterns to choose from, sourced from the Bayeux Tapestry, and other medieval texts. All materials will be provided.

Facilitator Bio: @sad.ie.art

Sadie Gilker is an avid embroiderer, painter, and designer whose practice explores texture, memory, andthe natural world. Sadie enjoys delving into the history of embroidery and believes that in order to keep ourcraft thriving, we need to explore the “Why-to’s” for our “How-to’s.” With over 10 years of embroidery experience and a teaching approach rooted in sustainability and collective care, Sadie creates awelcoming space for all skill levels.
