This weekend series is comprised of three, two hour intensive courses. The courses are $40 each and if you sign up for all three you will save $20! These classes include all materials and herbs needed, written instructions and recipes, and personal hands on instruction.
Fee for one class is $40
Fee for two is $80

Courses are as follows:
BASIC HERBAL FORMULATION AND HERBAL TEA CREATION, Saturday 12PM to 2PM
This course will focus on herb formulation strategy and techniques that will give you the most effective outcome. Formulation strategy is the basis for all herbal medicine making and is the common tread through the creation of other types of herbal medicine making. You will also learn why make your own teas and herb products, how to reverse engineer your favorite medicinal teas, how to tailor teas to your needs, and all about proper herb storage, and much more. Teas will be created in class for you to take home and enjoy.
BASIC HERBAL EXTRACTION TECHNIQUES: HOW TO MAKE HERBAL EXTRACTS, TINCTURES, LINIMENTS, AND ELIXERS.
4PM-6PM
This class will focus on basic herbal extraction methods, materials used for extractions using alcohol, vegetable glycerin, and vinegar, we will discuss double and triple tincturing, fresh herbs vs dried, preparing herbs for extraction, Alcohol vs glycerine and vinegar. We will cover ratios used in alcohol extraction for various herbs, proper storage of various types of extractions and expirations, and more. This class is hands on and provides extensive written instructions. Students will go home with various extracts.
SUNDAY CLASS
BASIC HERBAL SALVE, CREAMS, AND LOTION CREATION TECHNIQUES. 12PM to 2PM
Mixing herbs and creams for topical medicinal application is a foundational skill in herbalism. This class will focus various techniques of extracting herbs into fats and oils for topical application and will draw upon skills used in the first two classes to apply them in new ways. Topics covered will include types or oils and fats used, proper storage, proper heat processing and formulation for topical application. We will make an herbal oil, salve, and cream, in the class for you to take home. This class is hands on and provides written recipes for you to take home.
OUR FOCUS FOR THIS SERIES WILL BE ADAPTOGENIC HERBS AND SPRING CLEANING HERBS.
WHO IS YOUR INSTRUCTOR?
Brita Wynn Dinsmore M.A. is an experienced herbalist, anthropologist, ethnobotanist, healer and hedgewitch. She has studied with many well known herbalists in face to face courses and has taught and co taught 25 Gaia Conscious 9 month apprenticeships over the course of the last 30 years. She currently teaches herbal crafting and other classes in Tacoma and has taught herbal intensive and apprenticeships on her own small farm in Shelton. She grows most of the herbs she uses and has decades of experience in formulation technologies.
