Produced with ceramists and potters in mind, this is where you can watch, question and address specific issues directly with experts of their field, or just sit in and broaden your insights on the clay-making journey.

Nelson Lim – Construction of Memories
Nelson Lim shares his signature process of combining porcelain with metal wire structures, revealing tensions between control and collapse, structure and fluidity.
This masterclass explores porcelain as both material and concept. The dual nature of the material is examined — fragile yet resilient, traditional yet contemporary. Through demonstrations and discussions, participants will gain insights into material behaviour, construction strategies, and conceptual thinking.
Expand your understanding of how porcelain can be pushed beyond conventional boundaries into expressive, sculptural forms.
Masterclass Leader: Nelson Lim
Nelson Lim is a Singapore-based ceramist and educator whose practice explores the intersection of traditional craftsmanship and industrial materials. His work, particularly the Construction of Memories series, examines themes of fragility, transformation, and cultural continuity. He lectures at SUSS and NAFA and has exhibited internationally, including in Finland, US, China, Japan and Korea.

Hiroko Mita - Handbuilt Sculpture: 20 Years In
Hiroko Mita’s foray into ceramics began as a journey in pottery fundamentals at Jalan Bahar Clay Studios in 1996. She has since developed her unique sculptural approach from her creative philosophy of unity and community. In this masterclass she discusses developing expressive sculptural work from modular strands. Through demonstrations and sketches, she looks at how her work has evolved – melding life in Singapore and Japanese aesthetics. Her 2025 award-winning work ‘Line series. Flow’ is also discussed and viewed.
Masterclass Leaders: Hiroko Mita
Hiroko MITA is a Singapore-based ceramic artist. She creates functional and sculptural works through handbuilding and wheel-throwing, incorporating Singapore’s local clay and gas kiln firing. She studied under Dr Iskandar Jalil and continues her practice at Jalan Bahar Clay Studios. Her commissioned works include projects for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; she has exhibited in Singapore, Japan and Vietnam, and has received several awards for her ceramic works.
Tableware specialists Kian and Debbie share their knowledge gained from their experience creating bespoke sets. Take this chance of a meaningful interaction with the expert designers and crafters of the dinnerware that is used in Singapore’s fine dining restaurants.
