Join Kindle & Fold Studio for a hands-on lantern-making workshop in Seattle, where you'll explore color, texture, and light while creating your own glowing tabletop lantern.
Designed for beginners, families, couples, friends, and solo participants, this welcoming workshop invites you to slow down and enjoy the process of making something with your hands.
With step-by-step guidance from a local craft instructor, you'll assemble a lightweight lantern frame, add translucent paper layers, and bring your design to life with a battery-operated LED light.
At the end of the afternoon, everyone will gather for a shared lighting moment as the finished lanterns glow together.
What You'll Learn
During this workshop, you'll explore:

- Working with translucent tissue paper.
- Creating decorative patterns using layered colors.
- Attaching paper securely to a lantern structure.

A Shared Lighting Moment
We'll finish the afternoon by illuminating our handmade lanterns together.
A dedicated photo area with a dark backdrop will be available for participants who wish to capture their creations.
Photography is optional, and participants can enjoy the moment without being photographed.
Who Can Join?
This workshop welcomes:
- Adults exploring a new creative activity.
- Individuals attending on their own.
- Couples and friends.
- Families with children aged 10 and older.
- Beginners with no previous crafting experience.
Participants younger than 16 must attend with a parent or responsible adult aged 18 or older.
Every participating adult and child requires an admission registration. Each registered participant creates one tabletop lantern.
Workshop Materials
In-person registration includes one tabletop lantern project, prepared frame components, tissue paper, decorative materials, one battery-operated LED unit, and guided instruction.
Additional decorative materials are available through the optional $6 project enhancement add-on, subject to inventory.
Before You Arrive
Please wear comfortable clothing suitable for arts and crafts.
Workshop materials and basic shared tools will be available. Prepared frame pieces and supervised assembly techniques will be used.
The lanterns use LED lighting only. Open flames are not part of this activity.
Important Information:
A free parking information registration does not guarantee parking or include workshop admission.
Children must remain under the supervision of their accompanying adult.
The workshop uses lightweight frames, paper materials, and low-temperature, non-flame lighting components.
Participants may take home their completed lanterns. Final appearance may vary based on design choices and individual crafting techniques.
