Light up your creativity in this hands-on workshop where you'll craft a stunning star-shaped luminary from start to finish. Over two days (6 hours total), you'll learn foundational techniques using dry cane, mulberry paper, and tissue paper to build a glowing piece of art that's perfect for cozy nights or festive décor.
Whether you're new to luminary making or just love working with your hands, this class offers a welcoming space to explore structure, translucency, and design. All materials are provided, and no prior experience is necessary.

What you'll learn:
Bending and shaping dry cane into a star frame
Layering mulberry paper and tissue paper for glow and texture
Techniques for structure, translucency, and finishing touches
Good to know:
Ages 12+. Minors must be accompanied by a supervising adult (adults who want to make their own luminary need a ticket too)

Kris Geringer has been creating luminaries for over 20 years. She is currently the lead luminary instructor for the Porcession of the Species Community Art Studio. She co-produces the annual Luminary Procession during Spring Arts Walk. Kris enjoys collaborative art and sharing her knowledge with others.
