BASICS: Welding Fundamentals
About this Event
BASICS: Welding Fundamentals with instructor Emily Crawford
Mig welding stands for Metal Inert Gas welding. It joins metals by feeding a continuous solid wire electrode through a welding torch. An electric arc melts the wire and the base metal together, while a shielding gas protects the weld pool from air.
This Basics class will run approx 2 hours and cover the foundational knowledge needed to use the equipment detailed in the class description below. Individuals are welcome to take multiple Basics classes until they feel confident starting their own projects. Gaining proficiency in this course allows LMS members to use the MIG welders independently during open shop hours. For more in-depth, project-based instruction we offer one-on-one mentoring.
In this hands-on welding class, we will cover introductory methods for MIG welding two pieces of steel together.
As with all Basics classes, this offering is free for LMS members. While not required, we appreciate donations in any amount to help cover consumable costs. Please feel free to donate using the self-serve tablet in the hall or speak with staff for specific inquiries.

-----------------------------
LMS has a $10 no-show fee for LMS members who don't show up for the classes they sign up for. These fees will be charged to the card we have on file. This fee is being implemented due to a pattern of members not showing up to our classes. Our classes have a limited amount of slots and we want to serve as many attendees as possible.
Please visit our policies page to view all LMS policies. Prior to your first class, be sure to familiarize yourself with the User Agreement/Code of Conduct and Liability Waiver. The Liability Waiver must be signed in person at the front desk before participating in any activities at Lacey MakerSpace.
