This is a certificated course ran by our licensed Makaton trainer Kate and is the perfect starting point for beginning your Makaton journey. Ideal for those who want or need to use Makaton at home or at work to develop and support the communication skills of others.
Level 1 training introduces the Makaton Communication Programme and a wider understanding of learning and communication difficulties. You will learn around 150 core signs focused on real-life situations; immediate needs, people, food, activities and objects. Delivered in a welcoming, inclusive setting at Bendrigg, this course builds confidence and gives you the tools to start using Makaton straight away at home, at work, or in your community.
Who Is This Course For?
No previous Makaton experience is required, just a desire to make communication more accessible and inclusive.
This course is suitable for anyone interested in learning Makaton, including parents, family members, carers, and professionals across all sectors.
